Monitoring Canal Boats

With the Wireless Alert Range

Living on a canal boat is now becoming a viable option for many adults in the UK. However, living on a boat is very different to living in a traditional house. Boat owners face a number of different challenges to traditional homeowners when it comes to maintaining their home:

  • Boats live in a damp environment, and moisture inside the boat causes trouble when there is inadequate ventilation
  • Boat owners are susceptible to surprise leaks. There are various causes, from holes in on-board pipes, to external damage to the boat’s hull.
  • Canal boats are moored alongside pathways which are open to the public. Any doors or hatches left open for an extended period of time, can be easily accessed by any passer-bys.

Using the Wireless Alert TH, LD, and DC, the customer has successfully been able to monitor their boat. Whilst the Leak Detect is yet to alert (which is good news for the customer) the Wireless Alert TH has alerted the user of high humidity levels, prompting the purchase of some extra dehumidifers to solve this issue. Meanwhile the Wireless Alert DC continues to give the customer peace-of-mind when leaving the boat unattended. To find out more, click below to read the case study in full.
