Temperature Monitoring at Venture Seafoods

Monitoring chilled and frozen seafood with the EL-WiFi-TP

Nowadays, with fishermen using global  GPS mapping to locate fish stock, we weren’t surprised to get an enquiry from a seafood company as their industry is clearly keen to adopt new technology.

Venture Seafoods are catchers and suppliers of award-winning seafood based on the East Yorkshire coast in Bridlington.  As you’d expect, they’re legally required to record the seafood storage temperatures of all their stock. They were doing their temperature monitoring manually three times a day on  pre-printed sheets but wanted to automate this repetitive process using WiFi.

Gary Hodgson looked into all the options, initially looking at non WiFi temperature sensors but found...

“The cost and hassle of installing more data cables, waterproof data points etc. was enough to put  us off… the size, cost and simplicity of the [EL-WiFi] unit and the software made it a very easy decision.”

Venture Seafoods has EL-WiFi temperature sensors fitted internally on seafood storage chillers and externally on freezers. With the storage temperature clearly displayed on the front of the unit they do visual checks throughout the day with the knowledge that everything is being monitored and recorded centrally on the PC in the office meeting all their due diligence requirements. Another key selling point for Gary was the email alerts, he said;

“...they save me having to attend the premises when the factory is closed just to check the temperatures.”

Our EL-WiFi-TP is a WiFi-enabled thermistor probe temperature data logger can remotely monitor an environment over a -40 to +125°C (-40 to +257°F) measurement range. Data is uploaded periodically using a standard WiFi network to the EasyLog Cloud or a single host PC.
